Task 1c

I finally uploaded my video on my thoughts in starting on the BAPP course.

I have added a twist- instead of expressing my thoughts by speaking in front of the camera, I have incorporated movement that would suit and back them up.

I had to wait a while to get the appropriate material, and in the end it worked out well as the piece matches to the theme of beginning the course.

Choreography: Jet Leang
Synopsis: Individuals having to make a decision from a lot of choices that come up, and through 'figuring it out' within the movements, a clearer direction is resolved.

  1. Hi Gabrielle

I happened to be starting a new (non-uni related) task when your email came through so I thought I'd take a look straight away. A really different way of doing things - well done for thinking outside the box!

I had to watch this four times before I remembered I was supposed to be reading your words! I think the choreography was great! But it made me realised how much I love a pointed foot and extended line even as a Jazz dancer. I was drawn to the flexed feet and found them distracting the first time through - I understand this was an intentional element of the choreography.

It looks like many of us used iMovie to create our videos - I have to say I 'borrowed' this idea from someone else when I did mine, even though I have lots of experience of using it before hand. My only criticism would be that you (like many others) have overrun the suggested time length by quite a lot.

    Take care

  2. Hey Gabby,

Loved watching (and reading) this. I like how you incorporate your professional practice into the video.. it makes it more interesting and individual. One thing I would say is actually in this case the imagery/video causes distraction as I had to keep going back and reading what you wrote as I was too busy watching the dance (which is great by the way). Maybe you could say the words as audio over the top instead?

  3. Hi everyone

Thanks for the feedback and yes I was worried at first if the writing and/or dancing would be distracting, so I have created a voice over instead.
Not great hearing myself speak! But I think it is all a lot clearer :)

  4. This is a great you-tube video. I really like how you have used a voice over with the dancing in the background however i do feel like the others that it was a bit distracting as i was watching the dancing rather than listening to what you wanted to get out of the course.

Having said that, maybe it is because we are all mostly dancers so it is our natural instinct to watch the dancing!

But well done, great video. Feel free to check mine out!
